a somewhat recent taylor family tradition is carving pumpkins (also known as jack'o'lanterns) for family home evening before halloween. austin made a deal with laura that he would carve the pumpkin if she would get out the pumpkin guts first. but he still had to help a little and it was gross. he and braden liked using elementary school phrases like 'pumpkin poop' and 'pumpkin barf'.

obviously we didn't come prepared with a fancy design.

we went back down to visit laura's family for thanksgiving. we had everyone from her immediate family there, so it was great to be together. austin and uncle david had an awesome time playing wii bowling. uncle david is an amazing bowler!

we enjoyed the 60-70 degree weather in california. we always ask ourselves why we don't just move down there. laura's mom and grandma ask that too sometimes!

homemade rolls and stuffing and all the thanksgiving staples. yummo.

it was great to see everyone together for thanksgiving.

our little niece livia is growing up so fast! she refused to let her aunt emily out of her sight the whole time we were there.

uncle david has a tradition of dressing up as santa the day after thanksgiving and asking all the family members if they've been good and what they want for christmas. we have been good!

we left california at 4am so that we could get back for the byu-utah football game. we were excited about it, jon was excited to see his first byu-utah game, and perry even made the trip out for a couple days to come watch too.

as you can tell from the photo (and the scoreboard) it was well worth the early morning and the long drive! go cougs!

if you're familiar with our blog (or just us in general) you know that austin is a music fan and loves to play guitar. he started playing with a couple friends this summer which turned into a band of sorts. austin is excited because he's never played in a band before and he plays electric guitar with the group. the band had a concert this past weekend. austin still loves acoustic too and he played a short acoustic set before the band's show.

we got some fresh snow this past saturday and some warmer weather. these two ingredients combined made for a great morning for winter pictures.

the only thing cuter than laura in a sweater in the snow is laura in a sweater in a swing in the snow.

we like taking pictures in the snow more than we like driving in the snow.

austin told laura he was going to tackle her into the snow and got this in return. cute pouty faces are the trump card.
we're having a good winter so far, as long as it doesn't get colder than it did last week. we're excited for christmas and you can look forward to another post in a couple weeks!
