We had an accident at church a few weeks ago. Brooklyn tripped in nursery and hit her cheek on a metal chair (why there are outdated metal chairs in a room full of toddlers is beyond us) and got a big gash in her cheek. We could tell it didn't look good and we rushed off to urgent care.
She was a trooper and daddy held her tight while the doctors looked everything over.
She ended up needing four stitches. Daddy had to hold her down on the hospital bed while the doctors put them in. It was tough for all of us! But she got a big stuffed polar bear from the doctors afterwards.
She was so brave!
We took photos of it every day...
...and it got worse before it got better.
Her good buddy James gave her flowers and a card -- what a sweetheart!
She had a pretty bad black eye for a couple days...
...and then it started to clear up.
After about a week we had to go back to get her stitches out...
...and someone got a treat for being so brave!
She got cards from Emily and David and Grandma Self too...
...which she loved reading!
The injury is probably going to leave a scar but we think our little Brooklyn is just as beautiful as ever!

poor girlie! i'll bet that scar will deminish & surprise ya how small it can get. ps - i think there are prescriptions you can get to minimize scars - I had asked a dermatologist about it before & they gave me a couple sample tubes of something for carter's eye cut.
Oh, that was so sad to look at! But thankfully little ones are so resilient. And Brooklyn wasn't complaining about the cards and treats!
So rough! I can only imagine how hard it was to hold her down for the stitches. My 1st son was prone to staph infections for the first two years of his life. the first time it happened, I had to hold him down for the doctor to squeeze the infection out, and then Caleb would not go to me afterwards! Grandma happened to be at the appt. with me, and he would only go to Grandma. So glad she's feeling better!
Oh! That makes me sad! No one should have to go through that...especially such a young, sweet, little girl! (and her parents too!!! Don't know how you did it!)
