first week or two

Yeah. We're way behind. Between adjusting to double the trouble and some family trips, we're just now starting to catch our breath after a whirlwind couple of months! The good news is that Brooklyn hasn't asked to take Evan back to the hospital... yet.

Evan likes to sleep with his arms up just like his big sister.

As we hear is common with baby number two, we've been a bit less hesitant in getting him out of our home -- we went on a little family walk pretty early on.

Brooklyn was excited to take Evan to one of her favorite places -- the river trail!

Our little girl is getting so big!

And she loves checking on baby Evan.

We may have covered this before, but B loves to collect rocks on the river trail. This is her favorite rock collecting shirt for obvious reasons.

It has been a beautiful summer -- late spring, summer, and early fall are tough to beat up here.

Laura's mom came to visit us shortly after the baby came -- Brooklyn was very excited to have Grandma come visit!

And Grandma was very excited to meet Evan!

:)

Brooklyn loved playing on Grandma's bed and reading books.

Evan was bigger than expected so there were a few outfits -- this one included -- that we only got to see him in once or twice!

Brooklyn has been very much into the color pink in recent weeks. Pink and princesses. But she is still the toughest girl around and will challenge any boy her age to a knee scuffing or shin bruising contest without shedding a tear.

Aw.

Now if all you saw were these photos, you'd think that Brooklyn was totally chill with having this new guy around and not in desperate need of attention, particularly from her mom. Well, you'd be wrong. But she definitely has her adorable moments!

Laura did this cute Father's Day card with Brooklyn. We especially like #10. Apparently she had wanted Daddy's Father's Day treat.

Proud papa.

Uh oh!

We had Evan's first doctor appointment at the pediatrician's office. He is big and strong and healthy!

Austin took full advantage of his paternity leave coinciding with World Cup soccer.

What a look!

He has been a very good-natured baby from the get-go.

Though sometimes he looks like he means business.

We loved having Grandma Self come visit! It was great to see her with our kids and it was great to have some extra help. And luckily Grandma has had more Evan time on a couple occasions since -- more on that to come as we catch up!

Love the Evan pic in the orange stripes. The one of Brooklyn with her hair blowing is perfect.
