Having a baby is a big adjustment. And the person in our family who's had the hardest time adjusting is Brooklyn. It all started with a day away from Mom and Dad and a stomach bug that had her sick all night before getting to meet her little brother.
But she has been very excited to have Evan around -- she loved taking him home from the hospital...
...taking him on his first walk in the stroller...
...and helping Grandma with his first bath.
She even asks to give him a bottle if we ever get one out.
She's learned pretty quick that he can't play with most of the things she likes.
But sometimes she gets jealous of all the attention so we have to find creative ways to give her quality time. Laura helped her with a "mommy-Brooklyn date" to try and plant some flowers on our deck.
She was very excited about this idea.
Her favorite part was watering them. Note: she's in her jammies -- we pick our battles.
On the rare occasions when we do get her out of her "princess jammies," you can guess what color she insists on wearing.
Being a big sister is exhausting sometimes.
But she sure enjoys it.
Did we mention she likes to wear pink? She also likes to... accessorize.
Her color coordination isn't limited to her outfits.
Sometimes we can get her into an outfit that's not entirely pink.
She helped Mommy paint her toenails. Guess what color?
Sometimes we take a ballerina with us out on walks and shopping trips.
Brooklyn is definitely a Northwest girl and isn't used to seeing much of the sun. So she tries to find shade whenever possible.
She is a great big sister! The short version is that she's very sweet with him, and sometimes not very sweet with Mommy and Daddy. But we're all learning and adjusting and we are happy to be a family of four!
A handful of funny big sister things that she's said in recent weeks:
"There's no monsters, I'm here for you." (before Evan was about to take a nap)
"It's okay, you don't have to go to timeout." (Evan was being fussy at the doctor's office)
"Look, sprinkles!" (Evan had some little dots on his nose)
"It's Brooklyn day, not Mommy day." (her response to 'can Mommy go feed Evan?')
"No sweetie pie, we don't wear jammies to church." (her words to Evan one Sunday morning -- ironically she missed church one Sunday because she refused to get out of her jammies and had an epic meltdown)

Daniel spent much of June 2013 in his pajamas. And this summer he usually insists on long sleeves, favoring a baseball themed shirt, which I wash nightly.
The "accessorized" pic is so very cute. Love!
And please, please keep the Brooklyn comments coming!
