we really did have christmas

this was our third christmas together. last year was our first christmas as austin and laura taylor and we had a wonderful time with laura's family in california. two years ago we were together here in utah and had just agreed to become austin and laura taylor a few weeks earlier. thanksgiving in california will always remind us of when we were dating and in love (and just about to talk about marriage!), and christmas in utah will always remind us of our first christmas together.

santa brought austin a new guitar. well, technically, santa helped austin exchange his previous electric guitar since it was really heavy and hurting his shoulder. the new one is a hollow body guitar -- a john lennon epiphone casino -- and it looks and sounds great. we made the trade back in november but snuck it upstairs christmas morning to see if we could convince austin's parents that santa brought it. they didn't buy it. literally.

jenna and ty and their new baby carter came out to visit right after christmas. we had a dinner with the taylor side of the family at a really good chinese restaurant in midvale. we love jenna and ty but everyone was most curious and excited about seeing carter!

we went over to aaron and michelle's after dinner to see their new house and discovered that austin wasn't the only one who got a new guitar for christmas. matthew is starting to rock at a much younger age than austin did!

we enjoyed seeing and holding carter -- especially because who knows how big he'll be next time we see him!

we had a great christmas and we enjoyed being with family. we are lucky to be close enough to both sides of the family so that we can go back and forth for the different holidays each year.

Thanks for making Matthew feel so special about his guitar! I hope you don't mind if I steal 2 pictures to put on my blog :) I've been waiting for someone to post a group shot of us at dinner.
