winter updates (with some fall updates too...)

time for yet another belated blog update. in an armful of photos and a page of witty paragraphs we'll take you through some highlights of the past few months.

since last year we made a silly pumpkin, we thought we'd go for something scary -- byu football.

not bad. the semi-transparent layer didn't turn out quite how we'd hoped, but for a quick carving from a quick drawing from memory it ended up just fine.

so after a terrible start to the season, the cougs turned out to be pretty decent. we especially liked the unlv game -- it was 70 and sunny in november, which is usually unheard of in provo. we also didn't mind seeing the team finally start to put some big numbers on the scoreboard.

we alternate thanksgiving and christmas between our two families and this year's thanksgiving was with the taylor side of the family. we had thanksgiving dinner at austin's family's house and enjoyed spending the day with family.

thanksgiving will always be special for us. it was a trip down to visit laura's family for the holiday when we were still dating that "sealed the deal" -- that weekend we started talking about getting married and a couple weeks later laura was wearing an engagement ring!

the day after thanksgiving we went with braden and one of his friends to have a pizza/rockband party at jenny and jon's (austin's aunt/uncle).

thanks to years of experience with real guitars, austin knows how to take the proper rock pose.

laura rocks too but she's much more modest about it.

austin does his best offensive lineman pose as we get ready to watch the byu-utah game.

this sums up our feelings during the game... well, until about the last five minutes.

winter officially arrived the last weekend of november. it didn't come with the blizzard to end all blizzards that got so much publicity before thanksgiving, but came fashionably late the sunday after in the form of about six inches of snow.

we've had a great fall and winter so far. we're excited for christmas and excited to spend part of it with laura's family in california. we're also glad we'll get to see jenna and ty and our favorite (only) nephew carter for a few days before/after we go.
