Like about everyone on the planet, we had a warmer June than usual -- the kiddos continued to enjoy cooling off in the little pool outside.
We have really liked seeing Brooklyn and Evan learn to play together.
Brooklyn's ever-improving handwriting might be better than her dad's at this point.
We had another creature make a little home next to our front porch.
The kids (and Mom and Dad) have been enjoying a front yard (and driveway), whether it's sidewalk chalk...
...or just relaxing in the shade.
One evening we decided to stop by a park on the way home from getting Austin from work.
Someone was pretty happy about that decision.
It sure is nice having longer summer daylight!
Brooklyn continued to enjoy her dance classes. Doing tap dancing...
...and ballet.
One of the things we love about where we live is that even when it's 90+ degrees outside, it still looks like this.
Since the legal holiday for Independence Day was on the 3rd, we decided to start celebrating early by going for a picnic. PB&J smiles!

Because it's been so warm, blueberry season came a little earlier this year.
We've made it enough of a tradition that B looks forward to going.

Aside from basketball, one of the other things Evan is really into right now is shoes. He loves his shoes. Wearing them...
...or just finding them. Considering his dad has a couple pairs of Air Jordans upstairs in the closet that haven't even been worn yet, it's pretty safe to say the apple didn't fall far from the tree. (This also might mean Dad has been looking online for matching basketball shoes for the two of them... uh oh.)
The weekend after the 4th of July is a city festival called Derby Days. It started off 75 years ago as a bicycle race and has become something of a town fair. We started the morning off with a pancake breakfast at the fire station.
The kids got fire hats and badges and got to take pictures with fire trucks and other fire department gear.
But the highlight for a certain little girl was meeting "Rapunzel." (Is the fire station tie-in that her hair would almost certainly be a fire hazard?)
After breakfast we watched the Derby Days parade. Evan was pretty interested.
As was Brooklyn.
Austin was pretty impressed with the high school marching band. Between the green and white that reminded him of Provo High and the better-than-expected sound from the students that sounded more like BYU's band, it got him pretty nostalgic for fall football games.
One of the carnival rides they had was a ferris wheel. Austin half jokingly asked Brooklyn if she wanted to ride it with him, expecting one answer...
...but getting another. Wow!
What a brave little girl!
Pancakes, parades, and prize plush rabbits are enough of a busy morning to make even big girls a little sleepy for a mid-day nap. Which we were glad about, because Brooklyn went to go watch fireworks that night with Mommy...
...though we're using the word 'watch' kind of loosely. :)
Brooklyn has been creating some seriously impressive art lately -- from outdoor canvases...
...to indoor ones. Austin remarked that he's been to some of the best modern art museums in the world and he'd take Brooklyn's creations over a number of the things he's seen there. :D
Swimming! Our friends the Murrays have a pool at their apartment complex and they've been kind enough to invite us over several times.
The kids really enjoy it.
Most recently there was a "boat" for the girls to ride on, which was a big hit.
After swimming we made pizza. Tasty!
The other day Brooklyn was having a friend over around lunchtime so Laura helped her make a special lunch party. Colorful decorations!

Brooklyn's dance class finally wrapped up.
She has had a blast...
...and she's been pretty darn cute doing it.

For the first time in what seems like over a year, we are caught up on our blog!
