catching up (oct/nov)

It's been a while since we've blogged. Here are a few highlights from our camera from the past month or so.

We recently celebrated our six month anniversary of being married. We decided not to wait until our one year anniversary to eat the top of our wedding cake because we wanted it to be as yummy as possible. We didn't stay to eat very much cake at our reception so we were excited to try it again.

Austin apparently enjoys the cake.

Laura's dad and brother came to stay with us for the weekend. They were here for a BYU student visit (Jon is a senior and getting ready to apply to college) and we were more than happy to spend time with them while they were here. We love spending time with both sides of our family and want more visitors! Come visit us! We will make you yummy food!

Speaking of yummy food, we made a couple pizzas yesterday. This is our bbq chicken pizza which we have finally perfected after several attempts. Chicken, red onion, yellow pepper, and cilantro (added after baking) on top of lots of mozzarella cheese and bbq sauce. Yummo.

This is our newest creation, a four cheese alfredo spinach pizza. We made a spinach alfredo sauce that we tried at a friend's house and topped it with a four cheese blend. We decided to bake it on our smaller pizza stone (as opposed to the pan) so that we could make the crust nice and thick. It was very good and we're excited to keep working on it. We're open to any suggestions and/or recipes for new pizzas to try!

A possible caption for the photo of Austin eating cake:

"Tastes like ... chicken!"

How come all our kids (Austin & Laura - pizza; Breanna - crab fettucini) do all their cooking adventures AFTER they leave home and AWAY from home? OK, Austin and Laura have baked some pizzas at our house ... but not as often as we would like!

The pizza's sound yummy. I always love to use artichocke hearts and green onions. Will you be done for Thanksgiving or Christmas? If so want to try to get together?
