oregon trip: portland

Several weeks ago we made some quick plans for a little extended weekend trip down to Oregon. Our first stop was Portland. We stayed in a historic hotel downtown, where Brooklyn fell in love with the armchair.

We went to a tasty little burger place called -- appropriately -- Little Big Burger, and ate at a little park downtown.

Brooklyn's still not so sure about swings.

We went to a huuuuge bookstore in the area called Powell's City of Books -- it literally takes up a city block. Brooklyn found a cute little book to go along with The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

The next morning Austin and Brooklyn went to find a bakery we'd read good reviews about and brought home some tasty treats.

B was eager to try the pastries...

...and was happy to snuggle with Daddy afterwards.

We went to the Rose Garden in Portland's Washington Park...

...where we saw lots...

...and lots...

...and lots...

...and lots of roses.

Brooklyn didn't like them quite as much as we thought she would, although she was excited to see the bees that would occasionally visit them.

We stopped at a really great little restaurant called Tasty N Sons on our way out and made our way to part two of our Oregon adventure. We only ended up spending an evening and part of a day in Portland but we figure we're close enough that we'll be back soon.

Jennifer introduced us to Powells when Bre and I went there a couple years ago. LOVED IT! Love that area.
