We went to church with Jon in Kirkland at a Spanish ward where he has been serving.
Brooklyn was happy and cute in her yellow dress!
It was fun to be at church with lots of family, even if half of us couldn't understand the meeting (Austin said he could get bits and pieces thanks to four years of Spanish in high school).
Monday Laura and Brooklyn took everyone on a river trail walk while Austin was at work.
Austin left work early to take Laura's dad to the airport and we made plans to stop at the Boeing museum on the way there. (This was one of Austin's favorite jets growing up.)
It was fascinating to see all the planes from various periods of time and various manufacturers and countries. Jon made the point that the Wright brothers made their plane in the late 1800s and by the 1960s we had supersonic stealth planes like the one in the background.
On display outside the museum was a retired Air Force One plane from the 1960s and 70s used by presidents like Kennedy and Nixon.
Also on display was an old Concorde plane that used to make transatlantic flights in half the time normal jets take. Austin always wanted to fly on one when he was a kid.
We had some of the people Jon taught on his mission over for family night on Monday. They loved playing with Brooklyn.
It was fun to meet them and play games and have treats!
Brooklyn loved spending every minute she could get with Grandma!
Tuesday David wasn't feeling up to going out with Jon and the rest of the gang for visits so he stayed at home with Laura and Brooklyn -- sounds like an occasion for McDonald's!
We loved having family in our home for a few days! It was fun to spend time with Jon and hear about his mission experiences. It was also great to see Brooklyn interact with everyone -- she changes so fast and it was a perfect time for a visit. We will be excited to see them again later in the year -- thank goodness for video chats and blogs and emails in the meantime!
