braden and seattle stuff

We had another visitor this weekend! Braden came up to Seattle for a school journalism conference and got to spend Saturday with us. He had signed up for the conference before we even knew we were moving here, so we've been looking forward to seeing him.

Brooklyn liked seeing Uncle Braden and warmed up to him as quick as we've seen for someone not named mom or dad.

We took Braden to the Space Needle -- the most famous Seattle landmark -- in the morning. We hadn't been there yet, so we were excited to go.

We really couldn't have picked a better day to go up and look around -- look at that sky!

Brooklyn was a good sport all day and gave lots of smiles!

We enjoyed the 360ยบ view from the top. The view of downtown and the view of the Puget Sound were our favorites.

Brooklyn enjoyed chewing on her zippers and Mommy's baby vest. No strollers allowed up at the top!

For lunch we went to the Pike Place market. Braden had already been there with classmates and we had Brooklyn's stroller, so we didn't go inside the market but figured we would find something tasty in one of the shops on the same street.

And we did. Can't beat super-tasty grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.

So there's this wall in an alley by the market that is covered with chewing gum. Interesting, gross, and kinda fun.

We walked down to the waterfront on our way to the Seattle aquarium.

It was a great day to be in Seattle -- reminded us a little bit of our trip to San Francisco last fall.

At the aquarium Braden and Laura got to feed sea urchins and touch starfish and sea cucumbers and other such harmless marine life. Austin decided watching was better than feeding and touching.

We can't figure out what Austin is supposed to be here. A legless crocodile? A dinosaur? A seaweed?

Brooklyn enjoyed looking at the big tanks of fish, especially the colorful Pacific exhibit.

We enjoyed seeing a variety of fish, most of which were native to the Puget Sound area.

There were some birds and sea mammals that were part of the aquarium displays as well.

Brooklyn was a good sport and seemed to enjoy the aquarium, but we think she'll have more fun there when she gets a bit older.

After spending the first part of the day downtown, we drove back to our place to relax and have our favorite local pizza. We loved having Braden come visit and were glad he could spend so much of the day with us!

Thank you for taking time with Braden. He loved his visit and wants to live there someday. We can't wait to come visit in a couple years as well! By then Brooklyn will be the perfect age to take to the aquarium!!
