california trip, part 1

We made a trip to California last weekend. We flew into Long Beach and then drove to Riverside for a great visit with our very good friends Justin and Anna White (and their wonderful little guys). When we got to Apple Valley that night, someone had a fan club waiting for her!

She was a little overwhelmed at first...

...but was having a blast showing off her ABCs in no time!

At the piano the next morning with Dada...

...is B stretching her fingers to play chords? Wouldn't surprise us :)

Kitchen time with Grandma. Apparently baby needs a "sammich" (Brooklyn's name for hamburger)...

...and she knows when they're thirsty!

The weather was great, so we thought it would be fun to let B get in her swimsuit and play outside.

She's a cutie pie!

She loved playing in the sprinkler with Emily and David...

...getting her hands wet...

...watching Emily and David splash each other...

...and doing a little splashing herself!

1, 2, 3! Brooklyn loves jumps with Mama and Dada.

We kinda matched so we needed a quick photo. We were headed to a dinner for Laura's friend Sivhour whose wedding was the next day (one of the reasons we made the trip). B was kinda out of it, so we improvised a bit during dinner, but Laura had a great time catching up with her friends. And Brooklyn and Austin ended up having a fun daddy-daughter date at Wendy's.

Brooklyn loves reading books with Grandma.

She also discovered the play set in the back yard and loved the slide...

...and playing in the "tunnels" at the bottom.

That afternoon we were off to Sivhour's wedding in the LA area -- we kinda match again! (this time on purpose)

The wedding was at a really cute mission-style ranch with some really beautiful orchards and gardens.

All the decorations looked great -- some of the colors reminded us of our own wedding.

We loved the little homemade placecards...

...and the beautiful, vibrant flowers.

Laura was able to catch up with some of her friends from high school in Long Beach -- we enjoyed chatting with Emily...

...and Elizabeth, and all the other friends at our table. We had a great time chatting and celebrating Siv's big day.

It was the longest we've been away from Brooklyn -- but we knew she was having a blast at home with Emily and David and Perry and Grandma. We had a great time as well! The wedding was beautiful, everything was really well put together, and it brought back fond memories of our special day as well. :)
