four years old!

Uh oh... we've got a four-year-old!

As has become tradition in our family, we blew up balloons to put downstairs with her presents for her to wake up to. We did her favorite colors -- "pink and purple and orange."

The streamers on the stairway were a big hit last year, so we did it again.

Birthday breakfast party all ready to go!

There's the birthday girl!

She and Evan were pretty excited to see the presents and the balloons.

Mommy went all out for a special breakfast -- bacon, eggs, and... a 4-shaped pancake!

EXCITING PRESENTS!!! (make-your-own cup from Grandma Taylor)

MORE EXCITING PRESENTS!!! (Hello Kitty jammies from the Spells -- and, according to Brooklyn -- her "favorite present ever" which was declared even before she opened it because of the wrapping paper)

Princess Sofia and family!

The biggest present of the day was a paper countdown...

...to DISNEYLAND!!!

SOMEONE'S EXCITED!!!

We love our four-year-old sweetheart!

Making cupcakes with the Play-doh set from the Jensens.

Making real cake with Mommy.

Near tragedy when said cake threatened to ruin the birthday girl's day.

Said tragedy averted when M&M's were used to make flowers on top.

It all worked out in the end.

Our girl that has been too afraid to have candles on her cake in the past is growing up!

Aw.

Finally, as is tradition, Austin made a special birthday slideshow of "greatest hits" photos of Brooklyn from the past year.

We love our Brooklyn girl -- we can't believe it's been four years since she joined our family and we love every day with her!

What a fun celebration---I love all the "Oh!" expressions as she's opening gifts. She's so cute!

I can't remember if I told you where that wrapping paper came from. I bought it in 1987 to cover the bright yellow bulletin board and under-window wall panels in my freshman Helaman Halls dorm. I kind of misplaced my leftovers for a while and when it resurfaced it wasn't exactly stylin' anymore but I kept it for sentimental reasons. Then when I went to wrap the pj's I was looking for pink paper and, voila! I was tickled pink to hear the birthday girl liked it!
