memorial day

On Memorial Day, we went with our friends the Dimonds to Saint Edward State Park here in the area. It's an old 1930s era Catholic seminary building on beautiful grounds near Lake Washington.

One of the main reasons we came was a big playground that the kids loved.

There was lots to see and do...

...and since it was rainy the kids had it pretty much to themselves.

Someone wasn't so sure about the tire swing.

We walked around the grounds and tried to find a trail down to the beach...

...but it kept raining harder and harder. That's the first day of summer in Seattle for you.

We made it to a little grotto and called it good for the day -- we had a great time and will definitely go back again!

We really are true Washingtonians now that we braved the rain for our adventure. ;)
The playground was pretty awesome.
Love the tire swing photo.
